THE ALBUM NETWORK

Back in December I received a package from a band located in Seattle called Second Coming. Not knowing what to expect, I dropped the eight-song disc in my player. By the time I got through three tracks I found myself dialing Second Coming's number with an excitement that I have not known in a long time. I was blown away. The more I listened the more it freaked me out.
By the end of January I had to see what Second Coming was like live, so I threw down a few hundred bucks and flew up to see them play. Well, I see at least three shows a week here in LA, and over the years hundreds of live shows, but nothing prepared me for what I saw that night at the Colourbox in Seattle. It was the future. Have you ever been to see a band and during the show you had goosebumbs popping up all over your skin, and after the show you walked away knowing that you had just seen something very special? That's how I felt that night in January.
Over the next few months I went to see Second Coming play live a couple more times. Yeah, each one of those shows was a plane-trip away, but seeing these guys live was worth it. And each show was better than the last. Over those months the word was spreading in LA, and soon there was as many as five or six labels making the trip to see what was happening up north. Well, Just a couple weeks ago Second Coming signed a deal with Capitol Records. You see, Tommy Daley had seen the light very early and spread the word through the Tower.
Those initial eight songs that I heard back in December (and still listen to every day) will be the bulk of Second Coming's debut album. The timeframe in which it will be released is still up in the air, but it could be as soon as late summer. My word to Active Rock and Rock Radio in general, is that if your looking for a new artist that will become a core artist for your station for years to come--your about to get it in Second Coming. I know that's a bold statement, but I really believe that five years from now Second Coming will be one of the biggest rock bands on the planet. Why? In the industry that we work in it's easy to sometimes lose that "fan" aspect, and to lose sight of that love for the music which is what drew us here in the first place. We deal with so much music and so many new bands on a weekly basis that it becomes a blur sometimes. When I heard Second Coming it brought that fan aspect back to me. It made me feel like I was 16 again and just hearing some new music for the first time. It moved me. Second Coming is what rock is about. It's straight-from-the-gut music that makes you drive your car faster on the freeway while you drum on the steering wheel in delight. It's music you share with your friends during the good or the tough times. It's music you can sit down with by yourself and read the lyrics, to find that it's written from the heart and it's real. Anyway, I could go on and on, but I think you get what I'm telling you. If you want to know more though, call me, or call Tommy Daley or Dave Ross at The Tower. Call Cathy Faulkner at KISW/Seattle-she's been into them for a while now. Just remember the name Second Coming. You're gonna be glad you did.........
