A few weekends ago I made the trip up to Seattle to see two of my personal favorite bands play a pair of sold-out shows together at the historic downtown Moore Theater. The bill was Second Coming and Queensryche, and what an amazing two nights it was. Second Coming played a 40-minute set each night, showcasing mostly new material. Some of the new song titles are "Evil in Man," "Heaven," and "Liberty Man," to name but a few. They also delved into some of the material from the first album, such as top-10 radio tracks "Soft" and "Unknown Rider." These shows also introduced new guitarist Eric Snyder to the packed, exuberant crowd. Eric’s stage presence fits nicely with the rest of the band; in fact, it leaves me trying to remember just what the first guitarist’s name was. Oh well, the new songs take a more straightforward approach in style and substance and are perfect for what’s happening at radio right now. In case you haven’t heard, Second Coming has parted ways with Capitol and is currently finishing up tracks in the studio with Kelly Gray producing. With the quality of the new tunes that I heard live I’m guessing they should have a new deal and be delivering a new record to radio and retail early in 2002.
