LIVESTOCK 9 (May 1st, 1999)
Zephyr Hills, FL
by Paul Gargano
Of interest: Honky Toast kicked the festivities off Saturday with the glam-rock charm of old school bulldogs, spitting lyrics and spewing gutter rock straight from the big apple's streets, sandpapering a path for Second Coming, who proved one of the day's fan favorites. Frontman Travis Bracht endeared himself to the thong of early morning thousands with a patriotic spirit and sympathy for the hungover (or already drunk, depending how you slice it), and Second Coming blew the days events into order with the same live punch that is leveling audiences the nation over. Like Sevendust last year--the then up-and-comers that held the same early morning spot--Second Coming's crowd and sound are growing exponentially with each passing block of dates. Already one of rock's most fulfilling acts, they show the promise to be one of the genre's mainstays in years to come.
